The famous Kadalekayi Parishe, a celebration of groundnut harvest by farmers dedicated to Lord Basava which has remained deeply ingrained in Bengaluru’s collective consciousness for ages, is now all set to go sustainable.
The historical Parishe, a massive crowd-puller, is taking a bold step by embracing eco-friendly cloth bags. Through this meaningful transition, the event aims to redefine celebrations and encourage participants to contribute to sustainability actively.

IN THE SPOTLIGHT
The Centre for Sustainable Development hosted a ‘Sustainability Leadership Summit’ on November 4 marking 20 years of its existence. The summit adopted the “Bengaluru Declaration on Acceleration of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)”.
At the event, SWMRT bagged the Best Sustainability Service award. SWMRT member Anuradha Govind received the award on behalf of the team.
WTE WRAP-UP
This month, Whyburnwaste shares an article that highlights why copying developed nations and adopting their waste-burning technologies might do more harm to developing nations in the Asia Pacific region. The absence of stringent monitoring mechanisms and indifference to segregation guidelines will leave these developing countries vulnerable to health and pollution hazards if they were to go on with this technology.
